The confusion is intense. You are downloading a trial version of business (not from technet or msdn). Hence the confusion. You are downloading a beta?

I'm sorry. you lost me here.

I feel for you especially as a student. Unfortunately time line can be an issue for some users but distribution must follow it's course by priority.

forgot to mention that school starts thursday and I want to have my computer all set up with everything I am going to be using beforehand, which is why I am doing this now. I do not want to reformat or upgrade mid quarter if avoiding this is possible.
It would appear then, based on your criteria, that your best solution is to continue to use the RC (build 7100) until mid-semester break in December. Then you can install the Pro offer (available after October 22) without the pressure of losing data?

    Good luck this Semester!

I think I am going to go back to vista for the time being, mainly because I want there to be a smooth and quick transition after Oct 22.

Has anybody tested the upgrade feature of Windows 7 coming from Vista, and are there any real problems with application compatibility?

My main problem is that I don't want to reinstall any software that I had already set up on Vista... I'm planning on leaving all my software CDs at home and I'm leaving for school tomorrow so whatever I set up would have to be today...

    I'd advise bringing your CD's...
What if an app has issues 1/2 way thru the semester...then what do you do ?
