Problem with sleep and hibernate (again)

    Hi.

On my system (ASUS A6Va laptop) I have trouble with sleep and hibernation. Computer can enter sleep mode normally, but when I wake it up I get the black screen and have to hard reset. Now I know this a somewhat common problem with no universal solution, but the more interesting (and maybe related?) problem I have is with hibernation. When I choose hibernate option computer tries to go to hibernate mode but after some time (not longer than 20 seconds) it just gets back to login screen with my session active. The interesting part of all that is that my hiberfil.sys file is smaller than my RAM. It is only 1.4 gigs in size, when I have 2 gigs of RAM. I tried disabling and enabling hibernation but it's still only 1.4 gigs big. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

I got the same problem and only this week inverstigate what does it mean.
I use this disk partitioning scheme.

I resize and move original Windows 7 partition and free up place at the beginig of physical disk.
And install Windows XP as additional operating system on first partition and make it active.
In Ntldr boot menu I add line with Boot Record of second partitition and boot Windows 7 from XP.
After installation SP1 for Windows 7 I got same problem with Hibernate.
For testing purposes I make second partition active and my Hibernate works now.
    Check your boot configuration.
I think than Microsoft check, is current partition active or is it should be first partition after computer powered on.
    Good luck.
As Microsoft Certified Trainer I wrote big post How I use windows Xp at my Asus 1005PE (on Russian). You are welcome.
Now I use follow boot configuration.
    1. Windows 7 is active partition (second) and I use EasyBSD to edit boot configuration.
    2. I add ntldr file, boot.ini to Windows 7 partition and add it to Windows 7.
    3. Use arc path in boot.ini "disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)...." to boot Windows XP (check screenshot)
    4. As additional bonus, I can boot another ntldr bootable OSes from same and different physical disks.
    Good luck.
