Do make sure you're booting from the CD drive before trying to format. And if he can't boot from the CD, how can he boot from any other 3rd party tool?
Yes, but why bother formatting and reinstalling Windows if he can boot from his repair disk?
You can restore from the Windows.old folder this creates.

Yes, you COULD do that, but then in the end, you still havent done a proper full format, which, i think, if im paying attention, is what we are considering doing here.
If you were talking to me, my method involves a clean install OVER the old one.
That will not do a full format... But yeah.
Backing up the data needs to be done anyways. I would recommend just backing up from windows so you can restore from it, and wipe the drive and reinstall.

Yeah, what Tews was talking about, doing a format and install, so no junk is left behind, starting fresh, backups a must, and sorry if i sounded cocky or angry.
