By the way... not that I am condoning it, but the £15 upgrade offer if you buy a new PC? They don't actually check whether you did buy a new PC... seems a bit strange. (I did... but it never asked me to prove it)
I guess they're so happy to be moving 8 anything goes

Maybe I got lucky then... I ordered my £15 upgrade copy on launch day through the Upgrade Assistant and it all went through fine, well except that it wouldn't let me order it from the Evaluation copy of 8, I had to reinstall 7.

in order to get the $25 discount I had to register on the site, filling in my model number and Windows 7 product key. I don't know if it automatically invalidates my old product key or not.

Well, I didn't get my money back. I can elevate it to a claim in three days.

However, it turns out that with my college I can get a free license through the dreamspark program.
Both computers are now running Windows 8 Pro with media pack.

I do have a couple computers that could be upgraded, if Microsoft decides to give me a license for what I paid...

That's good to know. I've downloaded stuff from them before being that I'm a student but didn't realize you could get Windows 8. Headed over there now.

    Thanks.

I'm really confused with all the hate for Windows 8. Have those people actually used it more than a few minutes? I'm going on my third week with it installed on a Latitude E6400. I've tried several add-ons to restore Start Menu functionality, and once I've done that, it's a great OS. It's lightning fast, and boots from a cold power off state in 15 seconds.

Give a new OS a chance before deciding it's crap...especially if your decision only comes from seeing others say so.

When I was just playing it I was pretty indifferent. But after learning more I realized if I just USED it, I'll get used to it fine.

That being said, I just got a message from paypal saying the refund has been completed. I should get my money back into my account pretty soon.
