How to get a few files through Windows.old?

    Hello,

About a month to a month and a half after I got my new laptop, i've been losing files all over my Pivot Animation folder. Entire folders, important .piv files, etc. But, I don't believe they would be deleted in the Windows.old folder, so if they aren't, I'd like to try and get those files back.

An Image to it is here:

Could someone tell me if what I want to do is possible? And how I can get to my Windows.old folder? Like the path to it and etc? Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

The windows.old folder is only made when you do a reinstall and save all your settings. If you don`t have it, you can`t locate it because it`s not there.

What do you mean by a reinstall? Like a factory image restore? Because i've done that once before.

    Google it.

Like I said, if you don`t have it in C:, it`s not there.

A factory image puts it back to the way it was when you 1st bought it.

You only get a windows.old when you do a repair or upgrade install.

You mean like a Startup Repair? Or An OS Upgrade? What about System Restores?

    No, not a startup repair.

    OS upgrade?

When you do a Repair Install

You choose the upgrade install option,

If you haven't done a repair/upgrade install you do not have a windows.old.

System restore won't give you one either.

OS Upgrade - Operating System Upgrade.
