Unknown Driver??????

    Unknown Driver??????


    people today when i restarted my pc it said its installing a driver - then it said it failed and the driver is called UnKnown Device aND when i look at device manager it says in Universal Serial Bus Controllers that the driver is called Unknown Device and got a problem ???!!! any help?

    Any thing showing as unknown is never good. I would suggest checking for a virus and malware lurking on your system.

    Did you plug something in before this, like a flash stick? Likely it's driver.

    If not trace the Hardware Identification then go to the maker's SUpport Downloads webpage for the driver, or google it.

    ok doing the virus scan but everything in the pc works correctly

    The hardware ID trace from Device Manager will determine the device.

    Be sure you also have Updates set to Automatic, treating Recommended same as Important, and enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware. Optional Updates may then yield a driver.

    currently when i changed the device description in device manager -> unknown device -> properties -> details -> property ->hardware ids and it says value : USB/Unknown

    What's plugged into your USB ports?

    Try uninstalling the Device and see if it reinstalls at boot. If so something must be plugged in.

    Try installing it's driver Automatically, unzip and browse into the factory chipset to see if it's a standard chipset driver that needs adding, check optional Windows Updates.
