    Shorten file/folder highlight area?

Hi, I would like to know if there is any way to shorten file/folder selection area, as it was in WinXP. Example:

Please, no replies like "This is by (idiotic) design". That is obvious, I need a way to fix it. If I select a folder, i want to select a folder, not a quarter of my bloody screen.

    ---

    P.S.

The whole deal is that it isn't always comfortable to press CTRL+V to paste something in a folder you're in. I'd click right mouse button in a folder and then "Paste" but hey... There is nowhere to click! Wherever you click, you always select SOMETHING. There is no free space in a folder.

Thank you, and I'm aware of that. Still looking for a fix though. Is there any?

    Hello supraspecies,

From your screenshot, it appears that you are using either Content or Tiles view in that folder. If you switch to Large icons or Medium icons view instead, that would shrink the highlight area.

Icon Size - Change in Windows Explorer Window

    Hope this helps, :)

Obviously aware of that, but I need tiles. Because I find details too small, and the only other view that allows you to quickly see file information is Tiles. Still looking for ways, if anybody knows any.

Thank you very much for your support, I really appreciate it.
