Windows 7: Any reason to get Windows 8?

Any reason to get Windows 8?

I have a Nexus 7 and Android seems to work well on it. It isn't my PC, nor would I ever want it to be. Typing on it in any significant way is a pain. I guess I could get a Bluetooth keyboard for it if I really wanted to, but I think I'd rather get a TI keyboard for my TI-89 calculator to program it (seriously)...

Point being, I don't see any legitimate (my opinion based on my preferences and needs) reason to use Windows 8 on my PC, since I don't want my PC to have the look and feel of a tablet, and my tablet wouldn't function easily if it had the same GUI as my Windows 7 PC (otherwise that is what I'd prefer).

So, aside from the PC user unfriendly GUI of Windows 8 and the social networking (engineering) stuff which I don't care for anyway (yes, I don't even have a FB account), is there any reason to get Windows 8? Maybe they'll encourage software developers to use a newer version of DirectX that isn't available in 7, or similar?

I personally hope not.

By the way, I have my own "cloud," which I use as I see fit, so no need for that either.

My personal critique aside, is there anything that you can do with Windows 8 that you can't with Windows 7, and if not, how likely do you think it is that there will be (before Windows 9 is out [Maybe I'll like that one more.])?

Unless you want the weird gui to go to MS clouds ( which you obviously don't ) - no reason for you at all.

Alright. Thanks for the feedback guys. Just making sure I wasn't missing some new hidden groundbreaking features, or the like.

The question then is: Why make a new OS at all other than Microsoft feeling obligated to (Wrong reason to make an OS?)? I guess I could see if it was marketed more as just a touch screen OS, but it doesn't seem as focused there as I would expect.

I could be wrong, but I don't think this is the innovation they're/we're looking for on "desktop" PCs.

Maybe put an OS on a chip and change their name to "Microhard." Hey, with a fast and reliable enough internet someday we could replace hard drives with the cloud... Maybe.
