No titles or letters on desktop on bootup

    Hello,
It appears i have a virus that will allow icons but no titles or letters.
i try to get on line but i cannot see what im typing.
I hit con/alt/del to check what is running but it changes screens to a blank box and asks for the password all over again.
im not too computer savvy so any suggestions will be appreciated

    yes it did.
the desktop has icons with no title/words

i can open up a web browser but no matter what address i type in, its not found

there is a window that pops up and reads Diagnostic tools in use in safe mode. i click on recovery but the page has a few icons/pics and no text at all

i click on control panel and there are a few icons but no text/letters

a window popped up and read "waiting for snapins"

    command promt works

Open the command prompt, and try this command please:

    sfc /scannow

command prompt works? So that shows letters? Try to type something there

Try this System Restore so restore to a date prior to having problems. Best done from recovery environment
Using your retail Windows 7 installation disc or System Repair Disc, boot to the System Recovery Options screen. If not available do it from safe mode

    OK,

    I typed in: sfc /scannow

after scanning, the screen reads Verification 100%
Windows Resource Protection found the corrupt file but was unable to fix some of them.
