Dell Optiplex gx5200 question..

    Dell Optiplex gx5200 question..


    Just saw this machine in the shop going for 40 quid, with a 3Ghz processor, but completely forgot about the ram, would and could anybody tell me if it can handle up to 4gb?.

    Urgent as i need a computer for work.

    Cheers man much help so what kind of ram is it id have to buy how many mhz? as i know it has 2 slots, so 2 bits of 2gb ddr2 ram ????Mhz

    Generally, with Dell's as they have a history of compatibility problems with non-Dell memory, its recommended to use Crucial memory as its guaranteed to work in Dell's.

    I don't see an Optiplex GX5200 on the Dell support site. I do find a GX520, could this be the model number? There are three versions of the GX520, Minitower, Desktop (thin case) and Small Form Factor.

    The Crucial Memory listing for the GX520 is here. This is the US site but I believe they have a European site.

    firebird, good catch looks like my search with Dell dropped a zero off the model number. Hopefully the OP meant a GX520 as typing in a GX5200 brought nothing up.

    Oh on the actual machine i found it said 5200 for certain as i stood and wrote it down, may have been a miss spelling but i went back in there and found this for sale..
    Asrock G41M-VS3 R2.0 MOTHERBOARD
    INTEL DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 3.0GHZ
    8GB RAM
    ALPINE 700W PSU
    2GB ATI RADEON HD6570 GRAPHICS CARD
    FRONTPANEL OPENING BLUE LIT CASING
    for 200 quid :) so im happy there. its been custom made so i hope this sorts out my problem!.

    Make sure it has a warranty for parts and tech support and includes the OS COA sticker on the box. You can use this if needed to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
