display distorted with color and numerous vertical lines

    greetings,

i'm trying to fix a friend's laptop with the above problem. laptop is a "toshiba satellite pro c650 32bit win7 home premium. this morning she was suprised to see her desktop display to be distorted with numerous vertical lines and colors that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

i attached a clipping of the desktop. right now i am extending the laptop's display to and external lcd display with no problem. the clipping is taken while extending the display. am not really sure how this happened or what caused it and how to fix it.

any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    regards and God Bless,

    zeamann.

oh and 1 more thing; performance is not affected at all in any way. and another thing, viewing the clipping on the extended display doesn't show anything wrong. so what exactly is the problem here? i'm so really confused!!!

so sorry for adding things on separate posts but i just kinda messing up my brain by this problem. i guess it might help to note that my friend hardly closes her laptop and also seldom shuts it down completely. in other words, most of the time since late last year till now, this laptop can stay on for a number of days or shut down with lid open and power cord connected at both ends.

    please, please kindly assist.

The picture you posted does not show the problem? I take it this was a screenshot, and the screenshot did not show it? Since it does not show, and the display extended to another monitor is ok, this sounds like an lcd panel problem on the laptop. Either the display itself, or the connections. A Guy
