Does anyone actually LIKE Windows 7?

My point - at last! - is that no-one I have spoken to likes Windows 7 and was much happier with Windows XP. I'm one of them. One of the people I spoke to didn't realise that XP was about to "die" (become unsupported).
Seven seems to be for people who want to get things done without too much thinking or expertise. Which is an insult from Microsoft for the more abler (and I'm not boasting) users who want to make top-notch DVDs and website and more . . .
So, here's a plea to whoever is left at Microsoft (the former top man had gone, I read): restore XP to the marketplace as Windows 9 (or 10 if version nine is too far underway). Yes, I would be happy to pay for it all over again just to be able to use it.
I seem to spend twice as much time trying to get Windows 7 to do what I want it to do as I actually do working on something.
The Library system is totally baffling to me. I once had something in SIX locations and deleted five as a waste of computer space and memory! I lost a DVD I was well into completing. I was left with just blank squares, some with question marks, where pictures used to be. No amount of trying to restore the files from the recycling bin brought them back.
Never had that problem with Windows XP.
Please Microsoft, give the more serious users a chance!

Give the more serious users a chance? What, to be stuck with an 11 year old system? What are you going on about? Everyone I talk to thinks Windows 7 is great. How long have you been using it?

I've been using Windows since, well, the beginning, and in my opinion, Windows 7 is the pinnacle. I started out in this business in the late 1970's, and (I'm not boasting), I'm sure I'm a more serious user than most people, certainly than you.

Most serious Windows users think that Windows 7 is the best Windows ever. You seem to be fighting it rather than learning anything. You call yourself one of the more able users, but yet you say the Library feature baffles you. It is simplicity itself, but look, just ignore the Libraries feature if you can't wrap your head around the concept.

It took me awhile to wrap my mind around Libraries (hey, I'm old and senile) but it isn't really that difficult. I can see them being advantageous to many, if not most, people but, for me, they weren't really any advantage, especially since I am the only user on this machine and I would have had to reorganize all of my data that I imported from XP to take advantage of the Libraries, so, for the most part, I don't use them. I use the Document, Pictures, and Music Libraries links in the Start Menu to go directly to the content only in the My Documents, My pictures, and My Music folders (and deleted the other default folder from each library). That's one thing nice about Win7; you aren't forced to use most of the new features.

Put your stuff where you want it and you`ll never have an issue.

Just normal computing procedures.

Windows 7 needs a another Service Pack, there are so many loose updates which need to be combined into one Service Pack, this will help OPs so much when needing to completely clean install Windows 7 again.

I built a new desktop computer in late 2010 to early 2011, not sure as I don't remember, and installed Win 7 on it. Didn't care for at first but then what was I going to do with the 16GBs of RAM that was installed without a 64 bit OS. Since then I have installed Classic shell and it looks and feels like XP but has all the adavntages of the newer OS.

So try Classic Shell.

In my opinion after 3 months of getting acquainted w/win 7 on my new laptop from XP OS and a very old Gateway laptop. I'm impressed and very pleased w/win 7... win 7 is a great OS... disk clean/defrag on win 7 versus XP is no comparison, meaning win 7 does not require cleaning/defrag every day. Everything in the win 7 OS as I move along is a learning experience and interesting.
Conclusion: I love win 7 and all the great help/support here on Seven Forum!
