Does anyone actually LIKE Windows 7?

Come on now. You don't HAVE to find new ways of doing things. New habits, as you call them. If you like something why not use it? (Or, if it ain't broke don't fix it.)
If I STARTED on Windows 7 I wouldn't be going BACK TO Windows XP. I wonder how many of the "I love Windows 7" brigade are experiencing their first operating system? That is, they started on Windows 7.

I have used every version of windows since and including 3.1

Before that I used DOS. I still say seven is the best of them I've dealt with.

...and the way 8 is looking unless I get a tablet or a surface device it will continue to stay that way for awhile yet. 8 makes sense and I'm sure it's a fine OS, I just don't see myself using it without a touchscreen interface, and minus that new interface there just isn't enough bells to make me want to upgrade.

I also used DOS, Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, Win XP and Win 7. There is no question that Win 7 is best.

I didn't realise there was a Windows 3:1.
Perhaps I should take more time to read ALL of the user manual(s) and not just the bits I want to know about. But, I used to have a To Do List; now it is a Far Too Much To Do List. And I tend to use the time getting things done (e.g. I have to edit TWO videos on DVD before mid December) rather than reading about an unfathomable operating system.
You don't have to keep the same car (especially if there are too many miles on the clock) but you might want to buy a new model of your favourite car. That's why I am asking to make a new version of XP - not changed too much - and call it Windows 9 . . . or 10 . . . or wherever they have reached "behind the scenes". The next version.

BY THE WAY - for anyone who has not gone back to re-read earlier threads - and why should you - I have found the post with many links that I had lost - but unearthed a mystery at the same time. The "lost" post was #31, as you can read on my post #38.

LET ME ADD (instead of creating a new post): If Windows 7 is so good and Windows XP so terrible, why did Microsoft create XP Mode in Windows 7? Did they realise they had been a little hasty in killing off XP?

ADDED LATER: Why no Vista Mode and all the rest? Perhaps Microsoft could make some money by producing all previous Windows versions in Mode mode, as it were. People could buy their favourite previous version.
