I don't know if you noticed but the posts actually calling you a troll have been removed, there was no place for name calling.

As you can see, there are very passionate feelings here and sometimes patience takes a backseat instead up front where it belongs.

Have a look around, any possible thing you want to do or learn about Windows 7 has been done here.

XP has been around longer than any other OS so I would hardly call moving on a kick in the teeth to XP lovers.

Methinks you may be confused about XP Compatibility Mode. Some programs that ran well in XP don't always run, or run well, in Win7. If you right click on the .exe file that starts up a program, click on Properties, then click on the Compatibility heading at the top, you will get a menu that will, among other things, allow you to run the program in a mode compatible with earlier M$ OSes, including XP SP3. This will allow most legacy programs to run properly in Win7. I do that with Media Monkey so I can use a legacy visualization in it.

There is another feature available only in Win7 Professional and Ultimate that allows you to run XP itself from within Win7. It would be useful for programs that will not run in XP Compatibility Mode. But that is a stop gap at best since support for XP will be ending 04/14/2020 and running XP, even within Win7, after that would present a security risk. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if M$ issued a Win7 update then to disable that feature.

Been using W7 since release-preview. Took some time getting used to, (with XP being a faithful friend for way to long.) but once you've given it a fair shot, it's all good.

And if you don't like, I'd try using it some more. Relying on an old OS is in general a bad thing. (I'd say.)

There you go again (not you personally, but people who misinterpret my comments). It is not that I'm not prepared to use Windows 7. In fact, I AM using it. It is just that I prefer XP (note the present tense).
So what if it is a Windows 7 Forum? You have to mention other OSs to make a comparison. It would be useless to refer to "another Windows OS". Saying XP isn't like swearing. Do you want me to go on to the XP Forum and ask the question there? Trouble is that Windows 7 fans wouldn't see the replies. Unless they are sneeking looks at the XP Forum by way of nostalgia for the OS or to see what they are missing.

Sorry, did you mean I would like Windows 7 if I tried Windows 8? I have heard that before.
Thanks to all the helpful members of this Forum. I will return if I get into difficulty with 7 - or, more likely, if I have to lose XP. Still by 2020, that visionary year [get it?], I/we might be using a user-friendly OS that is actually XP revisited - as I suggested to Microsoft. "By 2020"? See post #174.

I was certain it could come to a positive end but sadly, it has already ran you off as well as at least one senior member I'm aware of.

Obviously I was naive, and the nay-sayers were right, I think this thread needs to be closed now before it causes any more division here.
