    Am quite confused re this

Having just read this article I still not sure what it is telling me. I get the impression that Microsoft want to swallow all the small fish and churn out one big one of it's own. I don't like this idea and would certainly put me off installing 8 - if I was so inclined which of course I am not because 7 is fine just as it is.
It just seems like they are fixing a non broken wheel??

Everything microsoft is linked together now.
You're likely already linked to it somehow and probably just don't know it.

I personally don't like being strong armed into things, it's why I no longer purchase video games from EA.
This is not something to be incredibly paranoid about though it's mostly just for mail and skydrive integration at this point.

I've been put of windows 8 for other reasons myself, that I suppose it would be improper to go into here.

Looks like MS want to make you think you need a MS account to install Win 8, but the author says no. The rest of the article is paid for info.

It all sounds a bit over the mark and underhanded to me.

Well that particular site has been known to be a bit conspiracy oriented when it comes to any kind of new feature.

Still smacks of big brother though and I am just a bit tired of the constant change and reckon that OS is more for the "mobile" people like some I saw in a funny pic show this morning.

Anyway as long as 7 lasts for another 10 or 15 years or until I am senile or something I'll be happy. If it doesn't well theres always Linux based stuff eh?

Sadly 7 will likely be FORCED into retirement sometime in the next 5 years or so.
I also agree that win 8 seems primarily to be for touchscreen/mobile devices.

It is all about control and in preparation of the cloud. The good old days where you could do your own thing in your little corner are over.

Hum well I just posted in the Microsoft site as to what I think about the darn nonsense.

It's about time Microsoft started providing what WE want and stop concentrating on what I can only describe as absolute greed and corporate nonsense

I expect everyone else has to but I have spent a great deal of my hard earned money buying their products over the years not to mention the amount of time and effort in using their software. Then one ends up getting treated like this!!

Sorry folks but I am not a happy camper right now!! If it means Linux then I'll go Linux
