Laptop won't start after update, can't start start up repair either

My mother in law has a toshiba satellite p775-s7100 and this morning she told me there was a toshiba update, I was on her laptop yesterday and saw there was an update for her bios, so I'm assuming she clicked the update button and messed the update up somehow. Now when we try to boot the laptop, it'll go straight to the windows error recovery screen with the options to start normally or start the start up repair. Choosing start up repair loads the files and the bar fills up at the bottom of the screen, then the screen goes black with no mouse and it doesn't do anything else from there. Choosing to start windows normally starts the normal boot with the windows logo but as soon as it starts, it freezes there. It shows "Starting windows" And two of the dots that spin around to form the logo appear, but as soon as the two dots appear, that's when it freezes. She didn't completely break her laptop did she?

In some cases windows Recovery disks may help.

Click the download button on the page and then burn the iso file to a Cd-r medium.

But if Win7 recovery cd is not of help ,in that case Live CD 's come to aid.

Booting via a livecd (free Linux distributions) needed files can be recovered and copied
to external mediums and system afterwards can be re-setup.

Linux livecd can be burned onto a dvd-r /cd-r disk or to an usb flash memory.USB is faster and better
of course.

Laptops like Toshiba have recovery partitions in many cases, and a special recovery
option is provided upon bootup.(F9 - F10 likewise..)

Run Startup Repair up to 3 times, that should fix the problem.
How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here: Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River.
Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file.
You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD, family member, friend, etc.

For techies or folks who work on computers: Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.
This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

Boot into System Recovery Options on the Win7 DVD or System Repair Disk to run Startup Repair repeatedly as suggested.

It should offer to System Restore which should put you back before the Updates which likely messed up during install. If not run it manually from the Recov Options menu.

If not you'll need to start at the top of these steps which do everything possible to repair Win7 leading up to possibly rescuiing your files to run Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility or the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
