No Icons and taskbar in my monitor

    Hi,

Today, when I started my computer, I found that no icons and task bar in my monitor.

    The steps I have done:

    1. Right click my monitor, chose "personalize" but nothing happened
    2. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL, monitor went black

Can someone explain to me what happened to my computer?

    Regards

Hard to say for sure what happened. Your computer might have become infected with malware. Or system files might have become damaged. A couple of things to try.

Start your computer in Safe Mode using the Advanced Boot Options menu. Do the icons and taskbar show up?

    Advanced Boot Options

From Safe Mode see if you can use a restore point to roll back to a date/time prior to the problem.

    System Restore

See if you can access Task Manager using Ctrl+Shift+Esc (not Ctrl+Alt+Del.) If you can get into Task manager try rebuilding explorer.exe by clicking the File option > then in the "Open" box, type in explorer.exe and press Enter.

Run full scans with your anti-virus suite of choice and a free on-demand scan with Malwarebytes and ESET Online Scanner (one at a time.)

    Malwarebytes

    ESET Online Scanner

Check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Pleas post back if anything helped or not.

    Hi,

    Finally it works:)

    1. When computer was booting I clicked F8
    2. A message appeared either boot by HDD or CD. I clicked CD
    3. Safe mode appeared and I chose "Start windows normally"
    4. All my icons and task bar appeared again.

Thanks a lot for your advice.

    1. I tried with safe mode but monitor went blank (no icons, task bars).
    2. Pres CTRL + SHIFT + ESC
