NewSID is used for changing the identifier (SID) of each computer that's built from a HDD image, almost always in very large corporate environments.

Why did you need to use NewSID? What is/was the goal?

Rolling back to the previous SID may not be possible (I could easily be wrong on this), but you should be able to "take ownership" of the files which are currently inaccessible.

On the start menu type in system >you will see a sub heading restore this system files and settings from a restore point>left click it you will see recommended restore. Select this option to undo the most recent update, driver, or software installation if you think it is causing problems. You will see a date, time and description of the latest installed program(s) follow the prompts from their or chose scan for affected programs first. You can also select choose a different restore point. Hope this will help. This is of course if you are here on sevenforums because you are using windows 7. Please go to your user CP top of page and fill out your entire system specs so people will know what OS your using which version of 7, 32 bit, 64 bit what build and what all your hardware is. This information is curcial in trying to diagnosis your problem. Thanks and welcome to sevenforums.

@ ZigZag Check the post from H2SO4 above that was not there when you asked your question

@qwildz - Please start only one thread per question as this will keep answers together for those who follow and I wont have to tidy up the forum
