Win7 Build 7600 x86

I tried to update with this new bios, even though they're both the same version (A15), and it did allow me to do an update, but the date nor version in System Information did not change.

Any other ideas? Any specific drivers that tend to cause this, or is there some way to repair the hibernation files or something (although it's not even trying...)?
Why not try standby?
It's resumes much faster than hibernate.

Win7 Build 7600 x86

to delete the hibernate file open elevated prompt and type: powercfg -h off

Then reboot and set the hibernate function on again in power settings

Windows 7 64bit RC1

I did powercfg -h off, restarted, but I couldn't find a way to turn on the hibernate function in the power settings. Instead I turned it back on using powercfg -h on. Still no improvement. I'm thinking of tracking down a retail copy of Win7, to see if it would fix things, but that might take me a while.

As to why even hibernate, I tend to work with a lot of programs open, for a few different projects at once, and need to switch between them. If I'm traveling and my laptop goes low on battery, it would be nice to hibernate all my programs until I can find a place to charge it.

Vista Ult64, Win7600

Hi, well the next thing I would look at would be the display driver, maybe the windows one that is installed, isn't as up to date, as the one from Dell, can you check that please.

W8 Pro, W7 Ultimate, XP Pro x64, Vista x64, Ubuntu

I have three M1330s and have been running W7 builds since before 6801, x86 and x64, with hibernate working properly. I am on W7-RTM currently and Hibernate works.

The last couple BIOS updates were only related to the cooling system (cycles the fan more due to the faulty nVidia GPUs) and should not affect hibernation. Besides, you have A15, the latest available.

A couple suggestions you may or may not have tried....Under Power Management for both network adapters, double check that "Allow this device to wake the computer" are not checked. Also, under Power Options/Change plan settings/Change advanced plan settings/Sleep/Allow hybrid sleep - try "On". Also try putting a time value in the "Hibernate after" field. Next, try changing the "Allow wake timers" settings.

As I recall, some of these settings do not provide a hibernation option in the shutdown menu but it will hibernate if you set Power Button option to hibernate and press the power button.

A couple further things.... The Vista Quickset software (Dell Quiskset-Drivers and Downloads) will install and work fine in W7 and allow Fn+F1 to put it into hibernation. Maybe you already have Quickset installed. If not, it is handy for Volume and Brightness control, WiFi catcher and Power Management. Not absolutely necessary, but handy.

And one last thing.... The Dell Recommended Vista Power Management Settings (Dell Vista Power Management Settings-Drivers and Downloads) will also install in W7 and enable the hibernate tab in the shutdown menu.

Unrelated..... if you have the nVidia GPU, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the 1yr warranty extension that is available for those machines due to the defective GPUs (maybe you are beyond one year).
