Application Data is not a real folder but a Junction and is there to provide interface to legacy software.
Everything you are looking for is in the AppData folder, all those other hidden files denying access were giving a special permission that denies browsing access to "Everyone". Not even the SYSTEM account can browse these folders.
Now before you go changing that, it was done for a reason. Those folders are junctions that point to locations in "\Users\{username}\AppData" and as such to keep scanning software from pulling duplicate files, browsing them is denied. Only a single permission is actually denied for the "Everyone" account.
Windows 7 is not Windows XP, it does not have the same stupid user directory layout as XP.
No need for creating the admin account here. Its simply an option in explorer that you need to untick.
Open windows explorer. Go to tools - folder options. Click on the view tab. Untick "hide protected operation system files"
I should warn you that doing this will give you access to highly critical system files so make sure you know what your doing.
