Thanks Greg. If I move to Eight, I'm sure I'll use the Explorer wrapper

I've used both Ex7ForW8 and Start8 and I prefer Start8, mainly because it leaves access to the Metro interface and Apps when I want to play with them. I've not found anything there I want or need yet but it's still nice to be able to use them if I want.

I use the Start Screen almost like a screen saver. If I'm working on somepaperwork, like approving invoices, etc, I'll flip over to the Start Screen and let the live tiles act like an active screensaver. That's really the only time I see that screen, and it's rare.

I would just say this for the Windows 8...

I can't imagine I'll scroll right instead of scrolling downon my laptop. it's something I wouldn't fancy on my desktop, though.

though I admit I like the simplicity of its UI, I can't stand the Metro tiles thingy. again it's personal preference and taste.

But the Tiles come into place with a touch screen which is what they are designed for. But without a touch screen it is a vey simple operation to create a Windows 7 desktop complete with Start button. Then Win 8 is fast!
Whoops I'm nearly converted - must be careful
