Installed Windows 7 and I lost about 350GB hard disk space.

    Hi guys,

So a few months ago I went into disk management in Windows Xp Pro and marked the HP Recovery partation as active and rebooted the laptop. It then started saying no operating system and so I downloaded Linux with a USB stick and was up and running again. I tried fixing it in there but that didn't I finally installed Windows 7 and this is the part where I noticed I lost so much hard disk space. Can someone please help me or will I need to replace this.

P.S The hard drive now has only 11.9 GB and 1.20 free space. I have also deleted some non-windows partitions but am not sure if I deleted some hard drive space to since in disk management it shows 137.04 free space... really weird so please help.

It would help if you would post a screenshot of your Disk Management. Use the Snipping Tool to do this. Follow this tutorial. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums Be sure and expand the columns so we can read all of the print before you do the Snip.

You can delete that partition and then extend your primary partition to use it up. That will reclaim the space.

The above post seems as if that solved your problem. I thought you lost 350 GB of space with the installation?

Great to hear it worked out OK for you, lolfire.
Bigmck, they had followed up with another post that includes a screen shot of their Disk Management display, which showed the missing space to actually be 137Gb (and didn't update the thread title).
