    Please HELP me,

Hey help me, i hav hp mini netbook and used to dual book ubuntu and windows 7, i shrinked some partitions to make swap partition for ubuntu., but after restarting netbook error shows" grub rescue no such partition" ,, after this i tested system memory and hard disk and get 100 % ok,, but when i use bootable flash drive to install win7, the setup window is not loaded, only loading and loading..., what may cause this? Is this hardware failure? What should i do? Please give me suggestion ...

It's not a memory problem, nor a disk problem.

Is win7 still on disk? Why do you wanna reinstall win7?
Why did you install grub in MBR instead of volume boot record?

    Please answer those questions first

Btw.... only thing you did was shrinking partitions? What partition did you shrink? Did you cut space from left or right size of partition?

You did add partitions as well? I assume you created extra swap partition(?)

Actually i already hav windows 7 on disk and still havent figure out how to install grub or MBR.., i hav cut partition from left side.,
anyWay i am happy to learn that it is not due to hardware failure.., all this scenario happened after making swap partition for ubuntu, am still regretting of that...@kaktus i cant get your technical words as i am not a computer geek,

    just type: ls
when you see the grub rescue prompt. Of course press enter afterwards. What do you get as output?
