Screensaver and power off monitor not working

I have build 7068. From the start my screensaver and power options are not working. The problem is sometimes they DO work. I am having trouble diagnosing it because of that fact. What would cause this? I just want the monitor to turn off 30 minutes after stop using the computer. That's the main issue. I go to "power options" and set it at 30 minutes and never put to sleep. What am I missing here?

I hate to bring this back to light if no one was having the same problem but I can't be the only one. It ended up being in the "advanced power options" There were some defaults set that were overriding the normal power options. I don't know if this is a bug or just an anomaly in my system. Check the advanced options when creating a power plan. They may be screwed up. (build 7068)

    You´re not the only one.

On 7068 and 7100 my monitor does not power off. When I set it to power off after X minutes, it blinks and remains ON.

I tried a free app "poweroff LCD" which turns off LCD manually and it does the same!

    Monitor *wont* turn off...

I had this same problem, so I went online and found others had tracked this to problems with a wireless mouse. Both Logitech and Microsoft mouses send some sort of signal even when not in use.

I unplugged my wireless mouse to test this and my screensaver started working. I plugged the mouse back in while the screensaver was on and it has worked fine since, screensaver and sleep both. Might be a coincidence, but it worked for me.

I just installed Sirius on my month old Dell Studio 1555 and started having problems with my screensaver coming up. I called Dell tech support and they wanted to sell me some ridiculous plan for 239 dollars. Luckily I came across you guys and I found out how to adjust the power settings and also that I'm not the only one who's Sirius online stops the screensaver. Whew! Just saved a freakin' bundle!! Thanks for the early christmas gift ladies and gents!

My problem seems to be the same as yours. I have the Power Options set to “Balanced” Turn off display in 10 minutes & Put computer to sleep in 30 minutes. I have the battery options set to “Never.” Yet whatever is happening, seems to happen randomly. Meaning that after few sessions with computer, the monitor does not shut off. It works, and then it doesn’t work. I need to reboot the computer to get it working again. I’ve been on the phone with Microsoft Support to resolve this problem; and they keep switching around the drivers. I know that one day this issue will be resolved, Windows 7 is still new. It shouldn’t happen nether the less. I’m going to start by unplugging my wireless mouse & keyboard to see what happens.

This has been a problem for me also for quite some time, display goes off after 10 minutes or so and computer goes to sleep shortly thereafter, tried some of the suggestions located here but to no avail, still does it. Looking for the answer.

Take a look at my other post in concerning the same issue. See if helps to resolve the problem. I haven’t had a recurrence of the problem since I made the changes. Let me know what happens. Follow the link to the post.

I am having the same issue. I have been messing with it for a while and my temp fix has been to turn off my screen saver and just have the sleep timer set. That seems to be working for now. If the other poster is right about the wireless mouse being the problem then this will be a perm fix...i like my mouse to much.

I just installed Windows 7 on two PCS. Screensaver will not start with either. If I disable the drivers for my HID it will start. How do I fix?

    Thanks
