Windows 7: dwm.exe high memory usage normal?

Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) is the compositing window manager that gives you all those pretty effects in Windows Vista: Transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails
What happens in Vista is that applications write the picture of their window to a specific place in memory, and then Windows creates one “composite” view of all the windows on the screen before sending it to your monitor. Because Vista is keeping track of the contents of each window, it can add effects when layering the windows such as the transparency we’re all used to, as well as the live preview thumbnails..
It should be the same in Windows 7.

Well that didn't really answer my questions but if it's not abnormal to use that much memory then I guess nothing's wrong. Thanks.

Well yes it does tell something. It shows that Desktop Window Manager is what is using that ram you are concerned with and that it is normal.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Hello! I'm new here, and I hope you can solve my problem!
I've found the same problem of chillz, on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Is it not worrying?
Usually, task manager tells me that the memory usage is about 2.50gb (so, not 1.95 as in the picture)
I know that chrome consumes a lot of memory too, but I will try to solve it!

Thank you!

(ps. forgive any English mistake! I'm Italian, as you can see from the task manager )

Windows 7 random CPU usage and high physical memory usage!!!
Ok, I am literally KILLING myself over this! I installed Windows 7 64Bit over XP around a month ago and it was so good that I recommended it to my brother who was previously on XP too. We got him a copy of the 32bit version as he has only 2gb of memory, and he installed it on his machine....

7 x64 idle memory usage around 1.5Gb, normal?
Just curious, my installation uses about 1,5GB of ram with only the microsoft security essentials and ATI catalyst open. If i kill every possible process the use drop to 1,2GB. Is that normal in the 64 bits version? My another computer, a old sempron with 1GB of ram and using the x86 version, uses...
