Should I upgrade My CPU or GPU first???

Hey guys, I hope you could shed some light on this subject please, I am wondering which one would benefit me more for the time being a new CPU or GPU?

See I was going to order either the GTX 680 or AMD 7970, I currently have 2 GTX 480's (which still max most games but the 1500mb vram nearly hits its limit) but I don't want to be spending £300 on a GPU if my FX 6200 can not provide for the new GPU! I know I don't have the best CPU in the world but I know it is not the worst, I was going to get a new GPU this month and upgrade the CPU and Motherboard later on in the year.

So guys what do you think I should do?

I am not an expert but i think a FX 6200 may bottleneck it, have you considered streching a bit and getting a 660ti and a 8 core visher or bulldozer

I don't think it would bottleneck, I have had 99% usage off both the gtx 480's on BF3 in a 64 player full server and my CPU has only saw the highest of 80% usage, that was with a media player in the back ground aswell has msi afterburner.

Thanks again buddy, I was thinking about getting the amd 8350 8 core has I don't need a new motherboard as mine is compatible, but really I would like to go the Intel route next time I upgrade, but if I know my cpu is holding mt gpu's back then I'll go for a Intel cpu and motherboard now and save up for a GPU.

I was thinking about that, but would I see a improvement in gaming for example in FPS & Performance? when paired with 2 gtx 480's?

If so then I'll go the Intel route now and order the parts :)

Yes you will, The cpu will be able to handle it better as it is a true quod core with better sibgle threaded performance, there will be a medium-bigish improvement in games, dont listen to cpu-benchmarks... That is a multithreaded test

Sweet, you sir have been brilliant :) but I was wondering, I do video rendering ect would a i7 be better than a i5 for this and gaming or would the i5 be just as good?

Depends if you really need the xtra 2 cores. How heavy is your video rendering?
