Truecrypt says "Device not ready" when trying to mount a volume?

Ok I am trying to remount my backup HDD after formatting my main media HDD with truecrypt.

But now my media backup HDD isn't mounting and giving me the following error:

    The device is not ready

Your system is not configured to auto-mount new volumes. It may be impossible to mount device-hosted truecrypt volumes. Auto mounting can be enabled by executing the following command and restarting the system:

    Mountvol.exe/E

So I don't understand why it's not mourning properly now on my main computer even thigh it mounted fine before I formatted my main media HDD.

    I also don't understand where I execute & enable that Mountvol.exe/e file?

The data was able to be successfully mounted on a separate computer, so it's really odd my main computer is giving me this issue.

    Thanks.

I've tried repair/reinstalling truecrypt on my main computer & still getting the same issue.

It just doesn't make any sense, I double checked the drive was working properly before formatting/encrypting my main media HDD. So how did it get out of whack?

It seems the files are not gone since I can access them on the other computer, but I need to get this figured out ASAP so I can re-copy my backup files back to my main media HDD.

open an elevated command prompt Elevated Command Prompt
    and do:
    Code:
    mountvol /E
Reboot (not sure if really needed) and try again

Hmm that didn't see to do anything. I typed it in the command prompt & hit enter & it just brought up another c:\windows\system21 line up again?

    Am I doing something wrong?

Now trying to mount it again I'm getting the Device not ready issue but now it says:

If you are accessing a drive for removable media, please make sure that a medium is inserted in the drive. The drive/medium may also be damaged & there may be physical defect on it or a cable may be damaged/disconnected.

But I just tried again on my other computer & it's working fine?

mountvol/e command doesn't show any output... quite normal same here.... very strange. But it did what it should do.

    Did you reboot afterwards?

I finally got it to work. Thank christ. I was getting nervous there for a minute.

Why is it making me do this now even though before I formatted my main media HDD, the backup never gave me an issue like this?

Will I have to do this every time now in order to open up the media back up HDD? Is there a way to permanently add it so I don't have to do it?

I can close the command window right? Or will that cancel the mounting of this drive?
