The differences between the two (generally in favor of 7 ) are small -
the gulf in perception between them is enormous. At least among the ill informed.

That reminds me the Mojave project regarding Vista. The Mojave Experiment#

That was the biggest PR fail of all time ...

Maybe, but it made one point. All of the badmouthers had never used Vista and were working with second or third hand information. At the end, they all had egg on their face.

Making fun of the audience is not the most effective marketing ploy.

I don't think they made fun of those people. They unmasked them as retards - and that's what they were. How else can you deal with a bunch of dummies like them.

One could argue that MS was the retard for creating the initial word-of-mouth that became the stigma that "killed" Vista in the public eye.

That was not my point. I was talking about people making statements about an operating system that they had never touched. That's like people who try to explain how Fois Gras tastes where all they have ever eaten was Liverwurst.
Or that guy from Florida that tried to explain to me how the French live. He had never been further than 100 miles from his home, where as I have lived in France for 9 years. You can imagine that I did not think much of his screwed up opinion - and I told him so.

We have a saying for it.

    Translated it says:

The best skippers stand on the docks.

I have no idea how the French version of Vista worked, so I must withhold comment. I am actually in agreement with your perspective, just a little surprised at your tone.

Humans, and other life forms, adopt the reactions of their neighbors. It is a survival modality. Neither our intellect nor our technology can separate us from our biology.

    Je ne parle pas liverwurst.

Windows 7 feels faster than Windows XP and Vista, but it turns out that's not always the case--sometimes, it's the slowest out of the three operating systems. CNET Labs tested four 32-bit Windows operating systems: Windows 7 RTM build 7600, Windows 7 Release Candidate build 7100, Windows Vista with Service Pack 2, and Windows XP SP3...
Now honestly, compare Vista SP2 which actually ran slower than Vista SP1, against XP SP3, compared to RC 7100 (imho) did more to stop ppl from moving to Win7, ....PURE BUNK to sell there magazine.

Excellent statement. Now tell that same (florida) person the difference between Hard Winter Wheat and Soft Wheat or Red Wheat from Durham Wheat. Its all WHEAT to him. And that same (florida) person is against "GENETICS" .

let me hide behind them shades.
