9 Year Old HP Pavillion Desktop Starting Problem

    Hi,

Have a 9 year old HP Desktop Pavillion.

    Won't turn on anymore.

It is getting power, I think, as the small green indicator in the back is lit.
    Fans not turning.

Have replaced the 2032 motherboard battery.

Are there any other batteries, or fuses ?

Any thoughts on what else i might try, or what the problem might be.

Or, just time to dump it ?
Can't help but feel that it is something "simple," as it has
    worked absolutely perfectly, until now.

    Much thanks,
    Bob

It could be power supply or the switch

    Hi

    Much thanks for help.

Is this main on/off switch on
the 110V side, or it just works a low voltage
relay or some turn-on logic ?

You can find the location of the power button by tracing the wires from the case to the motherboard. The location of the power button is not directly connected to the mains, but can usually be found on a pin-connector in bottom right corner of motherboard.

You can use a flat screwdriver to turn on computer without a power button. Or install the motherboard in a new computer case, and then try that out.

A switch is cheap, a good PSU not. Figure $75 and up.
