If you've used Norton and tune-up crapware then I'd follow the steps given to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you'll stick with only the tools and methods in the tutorial you'll get and keep a perfect install.

I agree with greg post #33. If you have been using Norton Tune Up registry cleaner it could of and most likely did all kinds of funny and goofy things.

Well first things first my norton av was acting kind of funny so i reinstalled it just to see something .after reinstall it did the same thing (would not start windows or sometines it would not shut down, and in action center it would say its not active but it was) i got a free copy of bitdefinder tryed it and i have not had a problem for 5 days all seemed well ,so on the 5th day I said what the hell i well go ahead and do a super clean install of windows 7 ,I had to download w7 sp1 my dvd was just w7, after doing it, it runs better than it ever has, It seem norton my have been the prob , but doing a clean install of windows made it even better so thanks for all the help ps bitdefinder has no tuneup in the one I got

The extent to which you stick with the tools and methods (and AV) in the Clean Reinstall tutorial will determine how long you get and keep a perfect install. So at least read it to see what works best.
