Are you sure that you're booting into the Windows 7 disk?

There might be an issue with your disk. Can you make a new one? You can also use the Windows Installation disk to get into the WinRE environment.

Sounds like your not actually booting from the Disc.

Turn computer on, Immediately tab F8 - This should bring up your bios, Under - Boot Devices, Set your DVD drive to number 1, And your hard drive to number 2.
Save changes, then reboot, It should ask you to press any key to boot from CD.

(Be very careful what you change in the bios, If your unsure, Take pictures and upload them, I'll tell you what to do from there)

My wife,s laptop will not let me post pics. What happens is i insert the windows 7 disc (which i know works cuz i tried it on my sons pc) and boot the pc up and when it asks me to press anykey to boot from cd or dvd it starts installing the files the i get the windows logo then a blank screen with the arrow cursor and it will stay on that screen forever, but does not crash.

And yes the bios settings for the boot devices order is right.

Ok, Since we have an issue with it hanging, whilst trying to boot from CD,

    Try:

Boot up as normal, but from the moment you press the power button, TAP the F8 Key, This should bring up some different boot options:

GO ahead and select the option for Safe Mode.
If successful, Open a command prompt, - Click on Start, Then in the search programs and files box, Type in cmd then press enter.
A black box should open, in there Type in, sfc /scannow
    and press enter.
It may well request a reboot in order for it to complete

Question. How would an sfc /scannow have anything to do with the DVD not booting after its actually loaded all of the windows files from the DVD into ram?

I'm not trying to resolve the issue of the DVD drive not booting, I'm trying to help out with his Start up issue. Hence, Trying to see if he can get in safe mode, Because If he's trying to boot from disc to complete a start up repair, Then one can only assume that He can't boot windows normally. So i'm trying to help him resolve the main issue. rather then the DVD drive.
