Question. How would an sfc /scannow have anything to do with the DVD not booting after its actually loaded all of the windows files from the DVD into ram?

I'm not trying to resolve the issue of the DVD drive not booting, I'm trying to help out with his Start up issue. Hence, Trying to see if he can get in safe mode, Because If he's trying to boot from disc to complete a start up repair, Then one can only assume that He can't boot windows normally. So i'm trying to help him resolve the main issue. rather then the DVD drive.
Yeah sorry about that i was lost for a minute.

it is now trying to boot up in safe mode (but a bit slow) it has loaded the file list and gone to a blank screen with the cursor again, the hdd is still flashing and has not crashedso i,m gonna leave it for a bit to see if it will load up and try what you mentioned. i,ll give it 1/2 an hour because of how slow it is. will keep you informed.

Very strange how its running this slow. It should be a matter of 2 minutes at the most to boot into safe mode normally.

I'm wondering weather this could be a faulty hdd.

ok started safe mode with command prompt

this is the last line before it goes blank

    loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys

it sits on this line for about a minute.

and the hdd is still flashing as thou it,s doing somthing

and the cursor still moves so it has not crashed.
