Strange Freezing Problem, assistance needed...
Hello everyone I just joined this forum for this specific problem and I've read through some of your threads and everyone seems very helpful so I'm glad to be a part of your group. I did search the forum and tried some solutions suggested but had no luck.
I bought my laptop about 5 months ago. It's a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook. I put all of the specs in my profile. The computer had been great but about a month ago it froze on me randomly, not doing anything CPU intensive. I hadn't made any changes before this, no new programs or updates, it just happened out of the blue. It happens about 5 to 15 minutes after I boot up, but it seems if i make it past the 15 minute mark, than it won't freeze and will perform fine after that. About 3 times now I've gotten a blue screen saying unknown error again about 10 minutes after boot up. Another detail is that when I boot up in safe mode, everything works fine, it has never frozen on me in safe mode. I'm not sure if that means anything or not but I suspect that it is some random process that the problem is with and this process doesn't run in safe mode. Sometimes It boots up and runs great, but most of the time I have this freezing problem. I'm sure that if I re-install the OS everything will be fine, but I'm not sure how to do this if my laptop didn't come with a OS disc. I could get an OS elsewhere** but I like the features that my laptop comes with, like Fn Keys, trackpad gestures, etc and I know I'll lose all that if i use a non-legit OS.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me to help solve this problem I would appreciate it very much. Thank You!
Chris
