    can someone safely split files.

    I plan to reinstall windows 7 over windows 8 preview. I do have the iso files (not the cd's) and was wondering if I could safely split the nearly 4 gig file.

    Here's a short list;
    (Caveat, I would not recommend splitting Windows 7 .iso file onto multiple CD's)
    1. Rar - WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files
    2. HJSplit - HJSplit: free file splitting software for Windows, Linux and other platforms
    3. GSplit - GSplit - File Splitter - Split Any File - Split Text and Log Files
    4. File Splitter - Free File Splitter

    Why do you want to split the file? DVD's will hold over 4 gigs of data. See chart below;

    I would use one (1) DVD. Windows 7 comes on one (1) DVD from Microsoft.
