New DB - database Folder that has appeared in Folders listing

Hello Forum,

I have a new Database folder in my folder listing and I do not know where it came from.

I have not up anything - it says something to to SQL or something.

Could someone please explain what this folder relates to?

Office Data Connections

It is associated with Office (specifically Office Data Connections). Here is a link that explains what it is for: Create, edit, and manage connections to external data - Excel -

I was able to create the same folders on my computer using Excel 2010. In an empty workbook, I clicked on the Data tab and then on "connections". It said I didn't have any available connections, but there are some MSN Money Central connections to link to. Once I added one of these connections to my workbook and I went and checked and I now have those folders.

I assume the same would happen if you downloaded or opened a workbook that had a connection configured for it. But I'm not completely sure.

If you aren't aware of an Excel document you have that links or updates to an external souce (trusted), then you can disable the Data Connections in the Trusted Center to be on the safe side. Go to File->Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings->External Content->Disable All Data Connections.

Hopefully this information will help or at least leads you in the right direction. :)

New Database folder - that has appeared in folders listing

Thank you for the extra information.

I am not too sure how the folder got there - not through the same means as you.

I can not access the data to manipulate it. or see the source.

Gives me an error message.

Is it safe to keep on the computer?

Windows 7 Home Professional 64bit

Hello I am sorry to contact you again regarding the database folder. But I have posted in two Windows forums and this is the answer that I received.

Does this sound like a good idea and did you try it?

Hi Vijay,

I do not have any software that would operate with a Database hence the question on communities. I think it looks like a common problem looking at some other people on the Community questions.

Some people have MS Money etc. I do not have anything that would operate such a program.

There are no files in the database and I am not too sure whether or not to delete it. It is not doing any harm I guess.

It just appeared recently on one of the two computers that I have.

Thank you for the reply.

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for the reply.

I would suggest you to run Microsoft Safety scanner and check.
Microsoft Safety Scanner
Microsoft Safety Scanner - Antivirus | Remove Spyware, Malware, Viruses Free
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for using an antivirus software program that provides ongoing protection. For real-time protection that helps to guard your home or small business PCs against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.
Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

If the folders are not reported by Microsoft Safety Scanner, I would suggest you to delete the folders and check if it helps.

I hope it helps. If you have any issues regarding Windows in future please let us know. We will be happy to help you.

Thank you if you could just ensure that the above may be a good idea

Get folder to go at the end of folder listing (when sorted)
Hi, I frequently use a folder name "Other" to group files that don't fit in any other folder. The problem here is that this folder falls somewhere in the middle of the rest of the folders when I sort alphabetically (which isn't very pretty). Would it be possible to get this folder after the rest...

Unknown folder has appeared in my 'My Downloads' folder.
A folder named'-Unsafe-' has appeared in my downloads folder. The obvious thing to do, I suppose, would be to open it to see what is in it, however the clue to NOT doing this is in the folder name!! Has anyone any experience if this??

Disable listing of folders, then files
In explorer windows is listing folders first, and then files. I would like to disable this, so that all my items are sorted by name, no matter if it's folder or file. Is this possible?
