Windows 7 will not load - tried REPAIR and still won't work

Can someone please help me? I am close to tearing my hair out!

My laptop went down about a week ago. I have tried startup repair with the disk - the startup repair worked after I reset the BIOS settings to default. Restarted the computer and it started checking E: Recovery - got to 61% and then froze again. Back to startup repair and this is the details:

Last successful boot time: 1/19/2013 12:18:39 AM (GMT)
Number of repair attempts: 16

Session details

System Disk = \Device\Harddisk0
Windows Directory = C:\Windows
AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 1

I have no idea where to turn next - I really don't want to have to completely wipe my computer and reinstall windows and I can't upgrade unless I am actually in Windows - which of course I'm not.

If anyone has any ideas or can help in any way I would be eternally grateful!!!

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot which try everything possible to start it, then if necessary copy out your data to run factory Recovery or get the superior Clean Reinstall with the disk provided.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit & Windows XP Professional x32 bit

I have the same problem so i didn't want to open a new thread.
Windows 7 can not pass the "Starting Windows" screen.
And my last successful Bootime was also the 19/01/13... Weird...
I have a dual boot PC one system with XP System dedicated to Audio,
& the other is a Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I tried running a Command Prompt with the 'SFC' commands a lot of times,
And it helped once and it's not helping anymore...
I also tried the "System recovery options" a few times with no luck.
You think i can use this: Restore MBR
To try fixing the problem?
Or any other suggestions will be most welcome!!

I'm trying to fix my brother's friend's laptop - my suspicion is he dropped it - the hard disc is almost certainly where the problem is. That said, I hooked it up to my desktop and it's "usable" in the sense that I can access the repair tools via my W7 OEM disc to try and run utilities on it....
