How do I determine battery charge level in Win7?
Have a laptop with Win7 Pro installed. Is there a feature in this OS that lets me know my battery charge level when I using it? Thanks.

Yes, there should be something in power options, and you should be able to put the icon down in the lower right corner on the taskbar. Haven`t touched a laptop 4 a while, but I know it`s there.
Doesn`t it show something down there when it`s unplugged now ? |

What make and model laptop do you have? All laptops should have a battery life indicator in the taskbar, unless it doesn't recognize the driver.

This tutorial shows you how to use above mentioned command: Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report Kari |

It's in the Windows Mobility Center (type that in start search box), but as mentioned it also displays when you put your mouse on the battery icon in bottom-right System Tray.

Hi jacatone,
You may also check 'battery health / charge' in 'Latitude D620' in two ways: Use the 'charge gauge' on the battery or use the 'Battery Meter' in the Dell 'QuickSet utilities'. 1. To check the battery charge, press and release the status button on the 'battery charge gauge' to illuminate the charge-level lights. (Refer to the reference image bow). Each light represents approximately 20 percent of the total battery charge. For example, if four lights are on, the battery has 80 percent of its charge remaining. If no lights appear, the battery has no charge. ![]() 2. Alternatively, you may also check the 'Battery related information' in Dell 'Battery Health Meter' (BHM) application; that is part of the new Dell 'QuickSet Utilities'. As long as the 'QuickSet Utilities' are loaded and running, you may tap <FN+F3 > key combination to launch the 'Battery Health Meter application' from within Windows. If you're still running the bloated Dell factory preinstall then that would explain why Win7's battery icon is not showing in system tray, since the OEM has larded on a bunch of crapware that duplicates the much better versions built into Win7. I would do what most tech enthusiasts do to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware |
