    Repair Win 7 x64 SP1

    I have a problem with my Win 7 x64 SP1 pc.

I've uninstalled the Office with the Revo Uninstaller and then it becamess very unstable.

I've tryed to do go back to a restore point, but I get errors and I don't have a backup.

    The problems I have are:
    1. The Windows explorer don't work. It says: Explorer.exe There is not enough memory to run this program
    2. The Control Panel don't work. The same error
    3. The sfc /scannow command returns "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"
    4. If I try tu remove the SP1 wuth command line wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932 I get Installer encountered an error: 0x8000ffff. Catastrophic failure
    5. I cannot repair from the boot DVD because it says I must restart in Windows and run from the DVD again and this get me another error

    Thanks a lot, Ariel

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having, Ariel. One of the Forum experts prepared a troubleshooting tutorial that may help.

    Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Considering all the problems your machine is experiencing, you may want to jump straight to a Repair Install. If successful, a repair install will fix your currently installed Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, data, programs, system drivers, etc. It takes about an hour and you'll have to reinstall Windows Updates. That could take at least another hour.

Or you could take this opportunity to do a superior clean reinstall and eliminate all the factory bloatware that slows down many computers.

What boot DVD are you using? Is it a Windows 7 installation DVD or some kind of a repair disk? You must use an installation disk that is the same version of what is installed on your machine. If you're using an installation disk it might be damaged (scratched, etc.) The repair install tutorial gives instructions on how to create your own installation disk. Follow the link in Step 4. (It's a Dell link but the ISO will work for any computer. Download and save the ISO to your desktop, then burn it to a blank DVD.)
