Windows 7 Home Premium ISO question

I have two computers, both running Windows 7 Home Premium. The newest one has SP1 and the older one (which is about 1 1/2 years old) does not have SP1, mainly because it was never offered as a download through Windows Updates. Lately, the older computer has become "unsteady" to the point where I want to reload windows.

I downloaded a copy of Windows 7 ISO with SP1, intending to keep it in case the newer computer ever developed any problems. However, since the older computer now has serious issues, but does not have SP1, will the ISO with SP1 work to repair that computer?

By repair, do you mean repair install or startup repair, system restore etc? It should work fine for startup repair, system restore, but I'm not sure it will work for a repair install.

I honestly would just to an install over the old installation, doing so will give you a clean install of windows with SP1 as well as retain the old installation in Windows.old. Assuming you do not use the format option when picking the drive to install on.

Check now that you've installed all Important and Optional Windows Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). Maybe SP1 will show up if a backlog is broken.

If not download Win7 SP1 standalone installer to install SP1 which may resolve your performance issues.

If not consider the Repair Install or even better get a superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
to shed the factory bloatware which corrupts and throttles Win7 native performance.
