    fonts change - unreadable

    Hello!

    I've been experiencing some weird behaviour of fonts: when I download a file with some diacritics in its name, the characters change into totally unreadable ones. I started a few months ago, I think. I tried to google it, but either I cannot ask the question properly, or the problem is rare.

    An example: możliwości -> możliwoÅ›ci.

    I also had a problem with utf-8 in text files' content, also with diacritics - the files seemed not to see them, even if the file was saved as utf-8. Not sure, it might be related somehow

    Does anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried to change language for non-Unicode programs? Here is how-to.
    Set it to Polish and restart your computer.

    (Blame google translate if language in your example was not Polish)

    Thanks!

    Thank you, I tried it yesterday and unfortunately it didn't work (yes, I did restart the system :P )
    And yes, uncle Google is right this time. :) It's about Polish. I checked all the language configurations I saw in the control panel, nothing seems to address the problem. The system's language is English, but I haven't experienced this issue earlier... weird. Maybe it's some virus, I'm checking it now...

    back to default

    ...oh, and it messed up other programs - 'install the program again'. So I changed it back to English locale.

    Have you tried a system restore to a point before this started?

    Did you run the malware/virus scans? If so what was the result?

    Have you tried running a sfc/scannow file check? Heres a link in case you haven't :SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
