    Windows .LNK file

I opened a Windows LNK file on Kingsoft Writer and all my application icons turned to Kingsoft
icons. I tried all manual and auto tweaks but none worked. Any more suggestions?

Hello pochp, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could download and merge the .reg file for the listed lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to restore it's default associations that will also fix the icons.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps, :)

    Hi Shawn,

I spent about 10 hours tweaking and looking for a solution before I found one -- and the shortest at that. I'm not sure if this is the same as your solution but thanks much anyway.

    From Aibek:

Simply download following file, unzip it, and run it. It will make necessary changes to the registry. Restart the computer and it should be fine.

Yep, it's the same method used in the tutorial I posted above.

I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. :)
