Installing Windows 7 from registration key
I bought a Asus Intel i5 computer that only comes with a registration key. How do I get it installed on the computer?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
If you have just bought the PC is the operaing sytem not pre-installed?
Yeah. It came from the Best Buy online auction site. It boots up in Prompt mode and asks to insert a reboot media. A little past my abilities.
You need to determine if the PC came with an OS. Read the materials that came with it - were any disks provided?
Then look on the case for an official MS COA sticker to see if an OS is installed. The sticker looks like this:
With that sticker you can install the licensed version given on the sticker from the link here, using the 64 bit installer, following these same steps to get a perfect install: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
If you bought a PC without an OS then you'll need to buy one or install a free Linux distro.
I have found out that it is not recognizing the hatd drive or the HD is not working. I'm punting the prob back to Best Buy online auction site. Thanks
How did you determine this? Did you look in BIOS under storage devices? Is the HD listed there (probably by serial or model #)?
If not then check the cable connection or change out the cable. Try the HD in another PC. Test the HD using the maker's HD Diagnostic CD scan.
If there isn't one you can also boot free Partition Wizard Partition surface test and Partition Wizard Check File System.
