What can I do here. Ram drive, Large USB 3 Hard drive, need help help!
Alright I keep it simple and sweet. well not simple. and not sweet but if you could help me with my problems that would be so nice. I had a bad week im worn out from work. I just want my setup to be clean and kick ass please. thanks
So I bought a thumb drive to transfer movies from my computer to my WDTV live hub. I figured I would be able to plug it in then from my computer over wifi transfer the movies to my Usb hard drive witch plugs into the WDTV live already. It is 300 gigs. the thumb drive is 64 gigs. As bonus I got a 1gig drive I don't use for anyhting as of yet.
So I ended up never be able use the portable drive. So It sat. One day I plugged it in to look at it and ended up using it for windows to use as a readyboost drive.
Here are questions.
Does ready boost work? Does it help for anything?
I made a parttion using bufflo software with my normal labtop hard drive. I made a ramdisk. 1 gig out of my 6gigs of ram is dedicated drive . The software didn't do anything with that space so I run my chrome browser off of it. I dunno why I just have lots spare time and like to use things.
Am I wasting my time? Is ramdisk pointless.? I mean bufflo assumed I would use it on the 300gig drive but I don't see the point. Its only usefull if you use it on your ram right? even then I can't think of anything good to use it for. I was wondering would another readyboost speed things up? Or what can I do at this point.
I I have the 300gig bufflow hd usb hoooked up to WDTV live but sucks to transfer anything to it. Wifi is slow. The usb is 3.0 but my labtop is 2.0 so its slow too. I have 100 gigs in movies, tv shows crap and I can transfer via wifi but i never knew how slow it was. So to move anything to it sucks. This all started because all wanted do was share my movies from my labtop to my WFTV LIVE. But it didn't work that way. Now I wonder am I using things right. Should I maybe hook the 300 gigs up to my labtop. Then figure out some way to stream to my tv? or run a cord or something. Or is there a better way to do this. What should I do in the mean time.. is this ready boost a waste time? Can you explain it at all. what about ram disk is that worth it at all? or do I need the ram more. Also if the ram disk is worth it what do I use it for.
I want a new computer because mines slow labtops are just slower. What can I do here people? Also if you can help me set up my WDTV live a bit better I be happy. I dunno man I hate not having my movies on my labtop and after deleting the moviess from labtop I got 100gigs spare room I got nothing to do with it... I dunno wish there something run in backfround that used that space. beside porn
