Windows 7: Right click/context menu appears invisible, minus the outline

21 Feb 2013   #41

As I said, my father ran 18.6 and had no issues, his has just updated to 19.0 so I'll see what occurs with his version, though I am doubtful it is an issue with the new version, rather an issue with my pc itself, but only somehow manifesting itself within firefox.

This is not true.
EDIT: make sure to try anything Layback suggest before trying of the options I listed. He's smarter than I am anyways.

Just trying to start a base line that I and others can work off of.

I will be back.

Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Did some searching and I found threads all over the internet with people having similar issues with different versions of Firefox. I know some asked you to earlier, but once more will you turn off hardware acceleration and restart Firefox? If that does nothing, try Firefox (Safe Mode), assuming that is still a feature of course (I haven't used Firefox in a long time). It is usual found by going to the Start Menu>All Programs>Firefox folder. If the drop down menu works in Firefox (Safe Mode) then it is one or more extensions/plugins causing the issue. If it still acts up, I have a couple more ideas.

I have actually had hardware acceleration turned off since I reinstalled and it still happened. However I tried safe mode thanks to a recommendation from the firefox forum, and it currently seems promising. The issue didn't repeat. I then disabled my plugins in firefox in normal mode, but the issue still occurs so something else is causing it, I'm just currently unsure what.

If I recall correctly extensions and plugins are treated differently in Firefox and are listed in different locations. You know what, I'm going to install Firefox real quick so I can give better advice.

Petey7 I think you are headed in the right direction. Default to me means no extendsion and no plugins. Default-Default. You can try this

Sorry I was trying to help with the GPU test. You are having a display issue so testing the device that makes the display possible seemed logical.
If the invisible context menus happen only in FF, there is the problem, another buggy version.

Have a good one.

I have the default appearance on already, and as far as I'm aware you can't disable it.
