Password on only part of the computer

I take care of a simple computer using W7 in an Assisted Living facility. I maintain and some of the residents screw it up. I would like to have a single password for myself and restrict the residents to only the few programs that are important to them such as MS Word, Excell and any other programs that I deem they can use.
I don't want them to be able to change sound or video settings or antyhing else that they shouldn't. I hope you get the idea.

I can't imaging they would be doing anything that really requires the use of a group policy implementation. It would probably be easiest to password-protect the administrator account, and enable the guest account for them to use. You could then empty out the guest start menu folder so all they see are Office apps, etc. if you wanted to. I would also recommend password-protecting your anti-virus program. Avast is a free option that I believe has this feature.

If you have some tech-savvy seniors on your hands, and you don't think that will do it, post back, and I or someone else can walk you through setting up a group policy, which will give you some more fine-tuned control in locking down the machine to the level you require.

Couldn't you just make a standard/guest account for the residents?
