Windows 7 Professional x64 freezes on the Welcome-Screen

    Hi there,

since a couple of days I have a pretty annoying problem with my Samsung Chronos laptop. I am running Windows 7 Professional (SP 1) x64 on it.

When I try to boot it normally Windows freezes right after the Login-Screen on the Welcome-Screen. When I shut it down hard and start it again Windows is booting correctly after 1 or 2 attempts but much slower then before when I didn't have this problem.

So I tried Startup Repair which couldn't find any problem and a similar possibility provided by Samsung ( the Windows Version I'm using was pre-installed) just leaded to a Blue Screen so I had to go back to a Recovery Save Point.

It's ALWAYS booting correctly in save mode thats why I thought one of the "additional" services which are started during the boot sequence are causing this problem.

So then I tried to find out which service is causing the problem with msconfig.
At the moment I have all services in the Service Tab enabeld and d all services in the Startup Tab disabled.
When I'm booting Windows like that it is working but I just can't figure out which one of these startup services is causing the problem.
I tried to enable just the Microsoft Security Client which was working. If I was also enabling the Java Auto Uploader it freezed. So I went back to just enabling the Microsoft Security Client but it was freezing again.
Just if I disable all startup services it is always working.
So it's kind of hard to reproduce the error and be sure if a service has something to do with the error or not.
I attached a screenshot where you an see the different startup services

I also looked at the Event Viewer under the Computer Managment section and I found some errors during startup here which where realted to VMWare. So I thought this must be the problem because I also installed VirtualBox a few days ago. I managed to get ride of the errors so you don't see any error in the list anymore but the problem still isn't solved

So maybe you guys have an advice how I could find out what the problem is or explain to me why the laptop is not booting correctly on the first but after several attempts which I find kind of confusing.

You don't need any of the Startup Services except MSE which is listed there in your screenshot. See if it works OK with only that.

In addition finish establishing a Clean boot and check it over good from the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Be aware that the Samsung preinstalled Win7 is a corrupt install to begin with, larded with blaotware and useless duplicate utiltiies that have better versions built into Win7. This is why most tech enthusiasts choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware
