No Background after RFM thing ... on RC1

I managed to activate the inbuilt security bs even though I have a legit key off the Microsoft beta website and now I don't have a background .
The security bs disabled it and no matter what I do it won't come back , group policy doesn't even work (setting it through that)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    rfm

happens after a failed activation, or when a build is timebombed. since you are runnning 7100 (it doesn't expire untill 3/10) I suspect the activation. You can go into event viewer (start>sarch>type event viewer>windows Log>application tab. look for info, or errors that have rfm in the subject

let us know what the results are

    few things i found

    winlogon.exe - Log Name: Application

    Description:
Windows license is invalid. Error 0xC004F012. Policy Value 0x00000000.

    and

Windows is in Notification period. (last time this occured was 6/9/2009 - 2 days ago in australia, this shouldn't be occuring at all tho cause it's activated already )

You may want to consider upgrading to 7600 Enterprise ... 7100 had known issues that 7600 has fixed. Get the 90day evaluation copy -=> Here

Looks good to me. sometimes validation fails if the computer clock is off. If off by more than a little the OS thinks you have set the clock back to avoid expiration and enters rfm mose. Not likely but it does happen
