W7 x 64 bit Dell N4110 goes out of control

My Dell Inspiron N4110, 64 bit, running SEVEN goes totally out of control several times per hour. I USE A MOUSE ALL THE TIME. I think some incompatibility between my mouse and the touchpad may be the problem. I cannot and will not use the touch pad if I have any chance at all of using the mouse.

I have discovered that unless I go into control panel / hardware and sound / adjust commonly used mobility settings / and finally disable touch pad unit goes further out of control and quickly and more often. If I turn off touch pad and let the thing sit idle a few minutes the touch pad will turn itself back on again and so after a 10 or 15 minute pause I must first go back to control panel again and again to disable the pad. With the pad disabled the laptop more or less stays in control.

What I mean by "goes totally out of control" is that suddenly most of the keys will do nothing I want them to but instead do some other keyboard shortcuts. The mouse roller will enlarge or shrink the page instead of moving up and down the page like I want it to. Almost no command does what it usually does, what I intend for it to do.

I've heard that to permanently totally disable the touch pad one needs to load a special program. Is this true? Is there some other explanation for the crazy irratic going out of control, other than that it is some conflict between the mouse and the touchpad?

Where should I begin? Thanking you for your patience and help,

    yours truly,

You should start by running scans with your anti-virus software and also download and run Malware Bytes Anti Malware (free version). Remove anything they find.

Much thanks 4 the suggestion.... I run avast several times a day, scan every day or more often. Using too, CCleaner very regularly. Will try the malware suggested.
