    Read Only checked?

So I am not sure if this is normal nor have I ever noticed this so maybe some here can shed some light.

When i download a file (i.e. image, video, text, etc.) my Windows 7 machine tags them as "read only". Is this normal? Is there a setting in Windows 7 to say "when I download do not tag as read only?"

I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and again I never noticed this so I am not sure if this is a Windows change from the last set of updates.

It depends what you are downloading and from where. If you like to send me a PM with a link to one of the downloads I will willingly take a look for you!

are you using firefox? it could be this feature. This post is old, but first thing I saw:

ff3 sets downloaded files as readonly when using the ‘open with’ feature | Off you go... into the purple yonder!

Is it happening with all of your browsers? can you try another browser if you haven't yet?

I am going to test this in a bit, gotta do some chores. But I tried using the FF add on to grab music videos. They came through and they are not checked. Going to try other methods on another machine as well, but I'll be back in an hour.

Okay, found it. It was my program, it was set to auto update. Going back to the older version clears the issue. I will go to their forums and post. Thank you though

Yes, seems like version 3.3 build 29126 has the issue. Went back to 3.2 build 27886 and all fine
