Many programs refuse to run with APPRCRASH/wininet.dll errors.

Yes, your thread looks a lot better now thank you.

You can try the tip in option three, but it would be better to try and see if SFC can do it for you first.

Whichever avenue you take try reproducing the BSOD you're getting, and I'll hold off on the .wdg response, but if you get another one run the .wdg report tool and post a fresh report.

The third scan just finished with the same message about being unable to repair some errors.

I tried to replace the file after booting into safe mode with a command prompt, but I got a message that the file was already in use.

I played around on another computer and found that installing Internet Explorer 10 modified the wininet.dll file. I already have IE10 installed, so right now I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall IE10 to see if that will replace the wininet.dll file by itself.

Uninstalling IE10 restored functionality to broken programs. Reinstalling IE10 caused those programs to break again. Looks like I'm not using IE10 :] (Like I was going to anyway, though!)

The wininet.dll file required is NOT the one on the disk!

Please wait while I source the proper file and post a fix protocol.

Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log
Please also run a CheckSUR scan and post the CheckSUR log .

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and attach it to your reply

Only just found this thread and was hoping to find a fix, unfortunately not.

I have the same issue as described in the thread, outlook won't load either in safe mode. Have run sfc /scannow

How can fix / replace my corrupted wininet.

    Help much appreciated.
